In the coming months, churches around the country and world will host screenings of At the End of Slavery for their congregations and as outreach events in their communities in order to share God's call to rescue the oppressed.
Mobilize your church to join the movement:
- GENERATE MOMENTUM FOR THE WEEKEND TO END SLAVERY: Between October 1 and November 10, 2009, host a large-group screening of At the End of Slavery at your church or local theatre in your community. This will introduce your church and community to the film and generate momentum for the Weekend to End Slavery — November 14-15, 2009. Purchase a At the End of Slavery screening kit here »
If you would like, you can also invite an IJM representative to attend and speak at your church the Sunday before or after the screening!
- GROW THE MOVEMENT IN YOUR COMMUNITY: Ask those who attend your screening to join in the Weekend to End Slavery by hosting their own house parties to show the film to others in the community. They can order screening kits and get started planning on this site.
- PARTICIPATE IN THE WEEKEND TO END SLAVERY:
November 14, 2009: Thousands of people across the country will view At the End of Slavery together, IJM prayer supporters will pray for the movement to end slavery and IJM President Gary Haugen will give a live Webcast address to house party attendees. Encourage your congregation to host their own house parties on this date.
November 15, 2009: On Sunday, pastors around the world will be sharing the message of biblical justice and God's call for his church to seek justice and rescue the oppressed. We will even provide a sample sermon outline to help you plan your message! Download the sermon outline here.
Hosting a large-group screening and encouraging your church members to participate in the Weekend to End Slavery are powerful ways for you to engage your whole church in the message of biblical justice and to proclaim to your community that you are a church that seeks justice! Some churches are renting out movie theatres or partnering with other local churches to stage a major community outreach, while others are showing the film in their sanctuaries as a way to bring community members into the church who might otherwise not visit on a traditional Sunday.
Hosting a house party also provides your church members with the chance to invite neighbors, colleagues, and friends into their homes to share about modern-day slavery, God’s heart for justice, and what the church is doing to combat injustice around the world.
Please join us in the movement to respond to God’s call to justice and end slavery.
